“After creating the campaign concept, we designed posters, postcards and all the artwork to support the innovative ‘waste wheel’”

The Sort It! campaign informed and educated 1.5 million NHS employees, from surgeons to cleaners to administrators, about the need to deal with waste responsibly.

The campaign went a long way to saving the NHS millions of pounds a year, and sparked discussions with key decision makers to put the issue of unnecessary waste in the NHS at the top of the agenda.

As a direct result of our campaign, PHS began speaking with decision makers in NHS facilities where they currently weren’t the service provider.

We did our research and discovered NHS employees were constantly unsure about what they should do with different types of waste, despite stacks of official guidelines.

We opted for simple, clear messages and created the Sort It! campaign to help the NHS save millions of pounds a year by making it easier for staff to deal more responsibly with waste.

We designed and created a unique and innovative ‘waste wheel’ which condenses 120-pages of regulatory compliance guidelines into a simple pocket-sized spinner that makes sorting waste simple.

After creating the campaign concept, we designed posters, postcards and all the artwork to support the innovative ‘waste wheel’.

We also set up social media platforms to drive engagement and raise awareness of the issue.

Expert media relations were carried out to promote the campaign and raise awareness within the company’s target audience.

PHS has given out hundreds of free Sort It! packs to hospital and healthcare departments across the UK.

“RMS really nailed this brief and delivered far more than we expected. They applied strategic and insightful thinking to the task and saw ways beyond the obvious.

“Sort It! carries a simple but vitally important message. Money is being thrown away at most NHS facilities every day because hardworking staff are unclear about what to do with different types of waste.

“The clear messaging provided by RMS will hopefully help change this situation”
