Hamish’s MARVELous Night Out
Publicising a charity event
The Brief
Help raise awareness of our charity ball.
Activity
Hamish Graham has battled cancer not once but twice – a rare brain tumour when he was just seven and then leukemia when he was 24. Despite being left with a few challenges, Hamish is alive and kicking.
A positive force of nature, Hamish is dedicated to raising funds for the two charities that supported him so well during his battles, Teenage Cancer Trust and The Christie Teenage and Young Adult Service.
Hamish’s mother, Sarah, was also on a mission when she contacted us. She was organising their biggest fundraising mission yet, a charity ball, and needed help promoting it in the press and on social media.
Over three months leading up to the event, our team wrote and designed digital flyers; delivered a programme of social posts and accompanying graphics; and liaised with sponsors keen to promote their involvement via their own marketing activity.
Above all else, we secured stacks of media coverage in national and key regional titles, including the Mirror, Manchester Evening News and LadBible. Our activity culminated in a five-minute interview with Hamish and his mum on ITV Granada Reports.
The sell-out event at The Edwardian Hotel was a massive success and resulted in a staggering £35,000 raised through ticket sales, a raffle, an auction, and generous donations – the full amount will go directly to both charities as everybody involved with the event gave their time free of charge.
