Boosting brand awareness of a local spa

Last summer we were appointed by Trafford Leisure to come up with a name and visual identity for the new spa facility located at local leisure centre, move Altrincham.

Following a series of workshops, we considered dozens of potential names and were delighted when our particular favourite – The Cove Spa – was selected.

The name conveys a sense of peace and privacy with a hat tip to the water-based facilities on offer. It also provided inspiration for our design team to bring the name to life. View our branding case study.

Following the branding project, we went on to build the website for the spa.

The Cove Spa opened in August 2025 and offers thermal spa facilities and a space to relax, rewind and rejuvenate, seven days a week.

In December, with the spa now fully operational, we were approached by the Trafford Leisure team again – this time to help build brand awareness over the Christmas and New Year period.

What we did

Through an integrated campaign centred on winter gifting opportunities, including Black Friday, Christmas, ‘New Year, New Me’ and Valentine’s Day, we set out to generate awareness of The Cove Spa, its facilities and pay-as-you-go treatments.

Tactics

We focused activity on generating awareness amongst audiences in the Altrincham area and in the geographical locations nearby, including Sale, Urmston, Hale, Timperley and into Cheshire.

Our combination of tactics included:

  • Regular eshots to the Trafford Leisure database
  • SEO and new web content creation to ensure The Cove Spa came up top in local searches
  • Social media management and content production – including a paid social campaign
  • New photography for use across the website and social channels
  • Influencer and media relations

Our activity was focused around:

  • Increasing content on existing social media channels
  • Growing followers and engagement on social media
  • Promoting awareness amongst existing Trafford Leisure audiences outside of the move Altrincham membership
  • Increasing visitors and bookings via The Cove Spa’s website

Results

Our integrated campaign saw average monthly bookings increase by 157 per cent and therapists working at close to capacity for the first time since opening.

In addition:

  • Visitors to The Cove Spa website increased dramatically with significant peaks in user numbers coinciding with eshots and social media activity.
  • The e-shot average open rate of 32.34% resulted in a total of 3,987 clicks to the website
  • Social media followers saw strong growth; with an increase of 64 per cent across Instagram and Facebook – compared to the previous period.
  • Content performance excelled with views increasing by 798 per cent, interactions up 1,612 per cent and link clicks to the website increasing by over 6,000 per cent.
