Securing national press and driving high-intent leads for Maguire Family Law

Client:

Maguire Family Law – a specialist family law firm with a focus on high-net-worth and international divorce cases.

Objective:

To position Maguire Family Law as national thought leaders in the complex and emerging area of crypto asset division during divorce, and to raise visibility among potential clients searching for specialist family solicitors.

Our strategy:

With the firm’s senior associate developing a keen interest in the nuances of cryptocurrency and divorce, we identified an opportunity to build a compelling media narrative around this increasingly relevant and often misunderstood issue.

We crafted and executed a two-pronged PR activity aimed at top-tier, trusted media titles with genuine authority:

The Financial Times – thought leadership piece

We ghostwrote a detailed 1,800-word article under the senior associate’s name, exploring how crypto is becoming a major blind spot in divorce settlements. The piece was designed to educate legal professionals (and prospective clients) about the financial and legal implications of digital assets.

The FT not only published it but offered CPD points for professionals who read it.

The Times – expert comment article

We pitched the topic and key talking points to The Times legal editor, highlighting the growing issue of crypto being overlooked during divorce settlements. Our angle positioned Maguire Family Law as experts in identifying and tracking hidden or undervalued crypto assets; a highly valuable skill in high-net-worth divorces.

The editor was immediately interested. After securing their attention, we drafted a 500-word expert opinion piece under the firm’s managing director’s name titled: “Don’t Overlook Crypto When Splitting Divorce Assets.” The article offered digestible legal insight for readers while reinforcing the firm’s credibility and technical expertise in this emerging area of family law.

The results:

Significant digital uplift:

  • +132% increase in homepage impressions on Google (comparing 2-8 July to the previous week)
  • +58,000 additional search impressions

New enquiries:

  • 35 enquiries in just one week following coverage
  • 6 conversions to paying clients so far

Business impact:

This coverage didn’t just build credibility, it drove measurable business results. The combination of thought leadership in prestigious national titles and increased organic visibility on Google led to a direct spike in high-intent enquiries.

Why it worked:

  • We tapped into a topical, niche area of law that set Maguire Family Law apart from other firms.
  • Our coverage earned high-quality backlinks, boosting SEO visibility.
  • The articles served dual purposes: establishing the firm’s expertise and delivering tangible lead generation results.
