Extended Play Featuring Alex Murdey

Taking control of the decks this week is senior PR account executive Alex Murdey, and she's been kind enough to talk us through her choices

OneRepublic – Kids

OneRepublic are my favourite band. Every album is full of tracks I can’t stop listening to – which I think is very rare! Choosing just one song was tough. I have huge respect for frontman Ryan Tedder, who has written mega hits for some of the world’s biggest artists including Beyoncé and Adele.

Kids, from the band’s latest album ‘Oh My My’, is perhaps one of their lesser known tracks, but it’s definitely worth a listen. It never fails to get my foot tapping and my not-so-great singing voice belting out!

Whitney Houston – I Wanna Dance With Somebody

Get me to the dancefloor! I can’t resist a boogie to this Whitney classic. It’s fun, it never gets old (for me anyway) and it’s essential for all weddings/birthdays – basically any occasion that contains some kind of dance floor!

Justin Timberlake – Cry Me A River

Who doesn’t love a bit of Justin? Some may say he’s a guilty pleasure, but I will proudly shout from the rooftops that he is one of my favourite artists. His talent is undeniable. I’ve seen him live in concert twice, and lost count of the number of instruments he played – all whilst singing his heart out and making his complex dance routines look effortless.

I could have picked so many songs from my Justin collection, but with the intro to Cry Me A River being so recognisable and an instant crowd pleaser, it had to make the list.

Imagine Dragons – Radioactive

Moving away from my love of all things R’n’B and pop – which I must admit I rarely stray from – I love to do my best impression of rocking out to these guys.

As soon as the beat kicks in on Radioactive I’m immersed in the song. It’s also one of the best live performances I’ve seen.

30 Seconds to Mars – Closer to the Edge

I was introduced to this band back in 2010. After being reluctant to give them a listen at first, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed listening to them!

Closer to the Edge is one of my favourite songs from the band, and brings back memories of a holiday to Turkey (perhaps not the most conventional holiday song but there you go!).
