Our PR team was contacted by the BBC last week when they were looking for an expert to comment on a story involving a fried chicken chain in London that had used an image of Disney actress Skai Jackson on their marketing materials.
The images went viral. Skai was not amused and openly asked the chicken shack for a fee for the use of her image.
Step in Jonathan Hassall, partner at Myerson, who was able to set the record straight about intellectual property and Skai’s rights.
In a typically understated way, he ended his commentary by saying: "Skai might say the image is demeaning and feels her reputation will suffer. She might not want to endorse a chicken shop in south London."
